Charity Project: NG Resthouse

N G Resthouse in Pokhara, Nepal is run by Nepalese sisters who provide a space for travelers to rest, while being nurtured with the food from their garden and farm.

Maya and her sister have been faced with much adversity throughout their lives, however they continue to put the needs of others before themselves, in hope for a better future for the children of Nepal.

After losing their parents at a young age, the sisters were forced to fend for themselves, learning how to make tea for the people trekking through Annapurna, earning minimal money yet still determined to make a better life for themselves. With no formal education, they learnt English from the guides and travelers, taking many years of hard work for them to afford to open N G Resthouse.

Today, the accommodation houses 5 rooms, a vegetable garden, chickens, buffalo and many other animals to support their environment, as well as a space for women and children who need support in raising their children, or a safe space to stay and work while they’re down on their luck.

However, Maya does not own their farm and the land is at risk of being sold by the owner. The first goal of this charity project is to help the two ladies purchase the land, to allow them time to grow their farm to provide for others off their land.

From there, Maya wishes to open an orphanage where her and her sister will help children who have lost their parents or need temporary help. They are passionate about helping the future generations of Nepali children, to ensure they have the opportunities in life that the sisters fought so hard for.
